Review of Spirits, Stilettos and a Silver Bustier by Deanna Chase

Pyper Rayne is the owner of The Grind Cafe. Jade and Cain are her best friends. Tyler is a five-day regular and he had a hint of bad boy. It's been three months since Pyper had a date. She has one with Tyler. They have basically seen him every day for three months. Pyper was being featured as an artist in an art show. The theme was ribbons and lace. Pyper's thing was dressing fabulously. There was no place better than Ruby's to find unique things. Pyper developed the ability to see and hear ghosts. One of her guides was a sweet old lady called Tru and another called Lily. They helped her to communicate with another spirit she couldn't reach on her own and to help answer questions. Pyper had many friends, she just had a hard time letting them close to her. Jade was an empath with empathic abilities. Cain wrote an article for a special New Orleans edition of Favorite Haunts magazine. They wanted great eateries that had ghost sightings. He submitted his article and Pyper's cafe was picked. Pyper was attracted to a ghost named Julius who could take on human form. Julius had been a witch when he was alive. Ruby had been murdered and Pyper had been told she was the next one to be killed.
Pyper didn't have a childhood with love and affection, but as an adult, she had Cain and Jade. Pyper was a medium. She had a sense of humor, was sensitive and kind. She was loyal and true and had an artistic nature. I enjoyed her story. Julius was a ghost (or was he??). Julius was daring, but had a conscious that troubled him even though he couldn't have done anything different. He was strong and brave and wanted the best for Pyper.
I enjoyed this story immensely. It was good writing and a good plot. I recommend it.
