Review of Virgin's Night Out by Shiloh Walker

Image
Sloane Redding was supposed to have been married six months before on Valentine's Day to Rodney, but he backed out. Boone "DB" Cassidy's two best friends were twin brothers Pierce and Taylor Redding, whom also happen to be Sloane's brothers. All three had been working for DDX Security Specialists. Pierce had been killed on a mission. After that, Taylor quit. Now Taylor is getting married and even though he doesn't want to attend the wedding, he still does because it's the last friend he has. Huley's is the only bar in Nowhere, Alabama. Sloane walked in to the bar to show her new self off, but then Rodney wouldn't leave her alone. Sloane hit him, but he wouldn't take the hint so Boone stepped in. She offered Boone a drink and dance and ended up in his hotel with him. I really enjoyed the book, other than wondering if her brother's name is Tyler or Taylor (a grammatical error that continues throughout the book). There were a number of gramm

Riley Stone was a necromancer who had a permit to work on Calamata Island, which is supposed to be off-limits to all demons but lately there's been an influx of them. Riley's job was to question their spirits. Benjamin was an archangel in charge of this region of the country and resided on Calamata Island. The demon Riley was questioning was sent to find a dame, to do a pass through town to see if she was there. This was the third demon he had questioned in the last week. All were sent by someone different, but each demon said the same thing. Paige's best friend was Christopher. He had warned her not to run at night, but the nightmares were back and she couldn't sleep. A Tiphon demon bit her, but Riley chased it off and the demon would be back. He used morton root on her bit as it could've killed her otherwise. Paige told Riley she had been on the island three years. Before the past week, it had been over 10 years since a demon had crossed over from the main land.

Review of The Bachelor's Baby by Dani Collins

Meg Canan is from Marietta, Wyoming, but she works in TV in Chicago. She was visiting Montana and her truck slid into a snow bank. A man, Lincoln Brady, stopped to help her get unstuck. He had grown up in Texas, but had just moved there, having bought the Circle H, which was the Hartstocht's old place. He had been a CEO with really big oil. Meg was visiting the Lazy C, her brother's ranch. Megan went to a grocery store and stopped to chat with Lily Taylor, who called out to Linc for help as he was at the store. They were having a bachelor auction to benefit Josh Drekker, who was a boy with a spinal cord injury being raised by his single mom. Their continued interactions start off sparks that just take them from there. It was a good book. The interactions between the two main characters were very funny. I'd recommend it to anyone that likes romances.

Review of Twelve Shades of Midnight by Various Authors

Image
*I have only read most of the stories in this anthology so my reviews are only for the ones I finished Liliana Hart - THE WITCH NEXT DOOR - I found this story to be very interesting and I found I couldn't put it down once I started reading it. I even stalked the author's website for the next one. I thought the author did an excellent job of bring you into this tale of witchcraft, reincarnation, and soul mates:) 5 stars Darynda Jones - A LOVELY DROP - Being a big fan of Darynda Jones' Grim Reaper series, I was excited to see her releasing something new and I'm glad she didn't disappoint.  This was another story where I couldn't put down the book until I was done with it. Normally I steer clear of any books that have to do with time travel, but this one is done very well that it keeps you wanting more. 5 stars Shea Berkley - DARK SECRETS: STONE COLD DEAD -   This story definitely threw in an element of supernatural I hadn't read about. It's also very fas

Review of Night's Blaze Pt 4 by Donna Grant

Rhys was very worried for Lily. He knew that without her he was nothing. She was his mate and he loved her. Dennis made Lily go with him through the hedge to look for the weapon. Dennis had been working with the dark forces since he was twelve. He said he always had a need to hurt things, that he liked it. Kyle had went to Dennis in the dark side and hadn't been home in three years. Kyle shot Lily in the stomach and she dies. I enjoyed this last part. The whole serial was well written and all came together. I'd recommend it to anybody that reads paranormal. Make sure read all parts and in order.

Review of Night's Blaze Pt 3 by Donna Grant

Image
Rhi felt Rhys was cocky, impulsive, reckless, and wild, but also brave, valiant, bold and daring. Rhi was being torn apart as her time with Balladyn brought forth some of the darkness in her. Ulrik's uncle Mikkel had not left when all of the dragons were supposed to go and became the silver dragons' king, which was supposed to be Ulrik. Mikkel couldn't shift and was the one that actually took Rhys' ability to shift away. Ulrik's ability was that he could give life back to the lifeless. The dragon kings had a weapon hidden. Con and Killian were the only ones that knew what the weapon was. Lily was supposed to help Dennis get into where the dragon kings resided so he could find the weapon. Once again, still very much enjoying the story and the twists and turns that are coming up. I would recommend it to anyone that likes paranormal books.

Review of Night's Blaze Pt 2 by Donna Grant

Image
Henry has been beaten so bad that he doesn't know if Rhi is really there until she gets him out of Ulrik's and gets him back to the dragon kings. The reason that Rhi found Henry was because she went to a warrior named Broc, who is able to locate anyone anywhere and he owed her a favor. Rhys waits two hours for Ulrik by his antique store. He believes Ulrik is the one that took his ability to shift away, so he was determined to question Ulrik about it. Even though she doesn't know this, Lily is the only thing that has kept Rhys from total desolation. Lily went shopping Denae in Edinburgh. Before she went back to the hotel, Lily got a tattoo that was to be her motto: Where There Is No Strength. Ulrik wanted Con ruined. He and the other dragon kings had killed Ulrik's woman. I enjoyed this continuation of the serial. I'm looking forward to the third part.

Review of Night's Blaze Pt 1 by Donna Grant

Rhi was a light fae. nobody had seen her since Ulrik carried her out of Balladyn's dungeon ago. Rhi was always there for Rhys. They became friends quickly and she was always there for him whenever he needed her. Rhys was a dragon king but he couldn't shift to a dragon anymore.  He still had his dragon magic though. Lily was gentle and shy and walked in Rhys' dreams. Whri loved a dragon king who was with her but then ended their time together. Dennis was Lily's ex but very jealous. Taraeth was king of the dark fae. All dragons had been hunted down except one. Present day, Boston, Massachusetts. Aileen wore a pendant, in the center was a moonstone surrounded by Celtic spirals. She was part of the society of the Thistle, which deals with the preservation of historical herbs and plants. There were seven in the society: Aileen, her Aunt Lily, Maeve, Maeve's daughter Theresa, and Sally. Aileen's father Aiden has invited the society to Scotland. Each member had a uniq

Tenile Barres had been working at the hospital since 7am. The university was holding a service for the 10 year anniversary of her best friend, Landy Connor's, murder, which has never been solved. Tanile had slept restlessly since the murder, with bad dreams and waking memories. Myla Newstead was the head floor nurse, as well as the oldest and crankiest nurse on the OB ward Tanner Memorial Hospital. Geraldine Finley was the certified head gossiper at Tanner. Tenile grew up at Tanner. Her college roommate were Landy and Nicole Stanfield. Other closest friends included Nathan Hamilton, Justin Grant, Kareem Winston, and Mathew Kincaid. When Landy was murdered, Tanile's boyfriend at the time, Nathan, was blamed. Landy had been stabbed 47 times in Tanile's bed. Nathan had never been arrested, was now living in NYC, and had been named Obstetrics Research Director at Columbia General Hospital in Manhattan. Everyone, including Nathan, came together for the commemorative memoria

Review of The Hero by Amy Andrews

Edwina Calloway and Justin Wilde had played Grace and Owen in A Gift of Life, a Channel 5 program, several years previously. They had a very noticeable chemistry but Edwina had been married to Dale at the time. Justin left the show and had been at the other side of the planet for 2 years. Now they are both at a charity car rally, which will take 5 days. They would go from Victorian Highland to Byron Bay. The charity was for the Royal Doctors Flying Service, whom had helped saved Eddie's life last year at a freak accident on location. Channel 5 had promised one million dollars over the course of the week. Justin had since become a movie star, having completed three movies in two years. Eddie and Justin still felt the same way about each other but this time she was free. This was a very good book. I really enjoyed reading it with the ins and outs of their relationship. I would recommend this book to anyone that likes a romance book with a good storyline.

Review of Trade Me by Courtney Milan

Image
Tina Chen is 20, from a poor family and going to college at Berkley. Blake Reynolds is rich and goes to the same college. Blake is famous from his childhood commercials and his father owns Cyclone Systems. His dad's company produces computers. On his way to campus, he splashes her white cashmere sweater and ruins it. Blake offers Tina a trade. He will take her place in her life: Do her job, live in her place, pay her bills. She will have his car, his house, and $45,000 for three months, basically his allowance, and $15,000 extra that he would normally earn on stock. She would do his job at Cyclone Systems as much as she could. I found this to be a well-written book. I thoroughly enjoyed. I loved the twists and turns of the story. I would recommend this book to anyone.

Review of Christmas with the Laird by Scarlet Wilson

Image
**I received an ARC of this story in exchange for an honest review** Juliette works for a tv company and she finds out they need to re-shoot an episode of Haunted Ever After, a program she's involved in. She ended up having to go to Scotland to redo the show with Andrew's help. Andrew is her cameraman but he also owns an estate in Scotland called Garnock Hall and is the laird. The estate was built 400 years ago. Andrew got news that the roof was leaking, so he was already heading there. Andrew was facing many problems: the family home was a money pit, his mom was in a nursing home, and his dad and brother are dead. Once there Juliette sees the problems Andrew is facing and starts to give him new insight as they start to fall for each other. I found Andrew to be a very proud person, but filled with indecision about letting his family estate go, which would make all of the people that live on his estate homeless. He is a caring, strong man. I felt that he was also very alone. J

Review of A Gift of Ghosts by

Akira Malone is a physics professor. She can see and communicate with spirits. She feels her ability is a genetic quirk. Because of something she put in an article, Akira wasn't going to have her job much longer. She got a call from General Directions for a job. They flew her from California to Florida for the interview. Zane Latimer gave her the interview and offered her a two-year contract. Dylan was a teenage ghost in the back of her rental car that wanted her help. She soon found out that there was more to the interview than just a job for a scientist. Overall, it was a good book and well written. However, everything was pretty much predictable. I would still recommend it.

Review of Claiming His Mate by Savannah Stuart

Image
Lauren Hayes was a 25yr old jaguar shifter. She was sneaking into Grant Kincade's wolf pack area in Gulf Shores, Alabama. Grant was the alpha of the Kincade wolf pack. He was 200 years old and on his honeymoon. Lauren's cousin Tommy was a thief. When she was 12 he taught her a lot. Lauren's sister Stacy was getting married soon and Grant's wolf pack had an heirloom locket that belonged to Lauren's Pride. Max McCray was second in command and was in charge while Grant was away. Lauren could mask her scent, which was unusual, but only mates are able to scent their true scent. Max caught Lauren breaking into his alpha's house, and things moved quickly from there. It was a pretty good story, although pretty short in length. I would still recommend it.

Review of Almost Dead by T.R. Ragan

Jenny Pickett was a creature of habit. She was a research chemist known for her organizational skills, intelligence, and ingenuity. She lived in Citrus Heights. She found through an article that an old classmate, Terry, stole her formula for an anti-aging serum. Brandon Lewis was a pilot that Jenny had been seeing for about a year. She thought Brandon was going to propose to her. Instead he was there to break up with her and told her he had been engaged to someone else the entire time. She put a knife in his chest and killed him. Lizzy, in a matter of weeks, killed a man, her father died and her fiance lies comatose in a hospital. Lizzy owned Lizzy Gardner Investigations. Lizzy worked with Hailey and Kitatly. Hailey was watching a known rapist she called "Almost Dead". This book is a TRULY good book. Its twists and turns leave you riveted to it. Review of Compromise Agreement by Isobel Hart

Sophia's best is Natasha Watts since primary School. Sophia was 25 when her boyfriend Mike proposed. She married him but left him eventually because she was tired of struggling. Natasha was a manager of a bar. Natasha found it was easier to go along with Sophia's plans rather than try to change her mind. They went to an upscale place named Alfies. They met Todd and Andrew who were stockbrokers. Sophia works at a boutique and she had listened to some gossip about Matthew Faulkner and found out he had some contracted arrangements with women. Matthew Faulkner owns a lot of upscale restaurants, bars, and clubs. Andrew texts Natasha and tells her he and Todd want to take her and Sophia to Octopus, a top restaurant in town. Mark Faulkner goes to their table and lets it be known that Todd is married and has a newborn. Natasha loses her job due to the bar selling. This was a really good book. I thoroughly enjoyed it. I recommend it to anyone.

**I received an ARC of this story in exchange for an honest review** Kristen is a cop who works the night shift. Her partner is Mick. She's been a cop for 10 years. Trevor was her husband who is new dead. Her mom was killed when she was an infant and she never knew her dad. She always needed to control her destiny. Her biggest strength is the fact that she's a control freak, but it's also her biggest downfall. She lived in Fawn Hollow. Julian and Alexander were once best friends, but both had loved Calista. Alexander was now Julian's boss. Julian was searching for Damon, a 37yr old rogue vampire. Julian is headed to Fawn Hollow to look for Damon. Review of In Plain Sight by HL Stafford

**I received an ARC of this story in exchange for an honest review** Dr. Harold Bradley was a renown archeologist from Cambridge. He spent his career tracking down pieces of oral prophecy foretold thousands of years ago. He, along with another colleague had discovered a stone spear. They were at a dig that was twelve thousand years old. There was part of a code in the dig. They also found samples of it in China, Peru, Bosnia, Mexico, and Egypt. Michael Bradley was his son and Nova was his wife. They also had a three year old daughter. Michael and Sebastian were in the water on a dive when two speedboats drove up and shot the schooner his father was on. Abby was a nurse who worked in Chicago. She was engaged to David, a neurosurgeon at the hospital, but she broke the engagement. I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book with all its twists and turns. I'd recommend it to anybody. It's one of those books that anyone can enjoy.

Review of Never Smile at Strangers by Jennifer Jaynes

Haley Landry is 19 and her best friend is Tiffany. Haley works at Luke's Diner with Erica and Tiffany. Erica seems to be different and in another world, always reading and writing. Tiffany's boyfriend is Charles and they've been fighting a lot. Tiffany went missing and the last one to see her was Charles. Haley's dad died 7 months before in an accident and Haley's mom has been in her bedroom ever since then. Haley and Erica started talking at her dad's grave and have became friends. Haley is a good and loyal person. She questions things, like not accepting that Tiffany has just ran away. She is hurt the way her mother seems to have abandoned her and her younger sister Allie. I found her to be a strong character and strong in her beliefs, no matter what the odds. I enjoyed reading the story and enjoyed the twists and turns right up until the thrilling end. I recommend it to anyone that likes mysteries and thrillers.

Review of 21st Century Rake by Victoria Barbour

**I received an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review** Asher Corbin is a rock star who's agreed to do a movie. His real name is Ted. Grace Nolan is a 27yr old software designer and has a passion for Jane Austin and the regency era. Grace feels there was is nothing romantic left in the 21st century, that technology has ruined it. Grace's sister Fiona gave her an invitation to a regency ball, but there was only one other person dressed in the regency style and it turned out to be Ted. Ted wanted a break from being Asher and just wanted to be Ted. I really enjoyed the interactions between Grace and Ted, especially since Grace doesn't realize Ted's other persona until much later in the book. Ted is drawn to Grace. I enjoyed reading the book. I would recommend it to anyone that enjoys a good romance.

Review of The Millionaire by Victoria Purman

**I received an ARC of this story in exchange for an honest review** Ellie Flannery is a small-time reporter for The Western Gazette but doesn't have the killer instinct needed. Ellie's best friend is Bron who recently moved to One-Mile Bay. Ellie was sitting on the beach and saw Chris Malone, a famous photographer. Chris is also from a rich family but has turned his back on them. Ellie's true passion is fundraising. She's having a charity ball for the royal flying doctors who had saved her grandfather's life. Ellie went to Chris to donate one of his pictures. I found Ellie to be very determined. She adores her grandparents and was at first starstruck by Chris as he was her idol. You really like her portrayal in this book. Chris is kind of shell-shocked by everything he has seen in the world while taking his photographs. As you read on, you realize he's really a nice guy. I did enjoy this book. It was well-written. It was a typical romance.

Olivia had started a night club, the Coven, twenty years ago and six months ago Sadie took over. Maya is one of the members of Olivia's coven with Sadie. She can detect wolves in the area as well as turn a werewolf into a human. Her blood-mate is Shane, a sentry for the presidium, the vampire government. King Heinrich is the werewolf king. Killian Bane is the werewolf prince, the next in line to be king. Killian is opening a bar, putting it in direct competition with Sadie's. Killian has a thing for Sadie even though it's frowned upon. Sadie loves being a vampire. She's quirky, independent and you just like her. She very definitely tries to fight her attraction to Killian. Killian is strong-willed, knows what he wants, and is determined to get it, even if it's Sadie. I thoroughly enjoyed reading this boo
