The World on a Plate: 40 Cuisines, 100 Recipes, and the Stories Behind Them by Mina Holland My rating: 5 of 5 stars The World On A Plate is a cookbook where the author shares her love of food as well as the world. Not only does she give you dishes from around the world, she gives you the stories behind them as well as cultural history of the different dishes. I think that anyone that has a passion for food will enjoy it. It was a really good book to read through. I highly recommend. **I received an ARC of this story in exchange for an honest review View all my reviews

Review: A License to Wed: Rebellious Brides

Image
A License to Wed: Rebellious Brides by Diana Quincy My rating: 5 of 5 stars When Lady Elinor Dunsmore was a little girl, she swore she was going to marry Will Naismith, her brother’s best friend. Just before she’s to come out to society, they share a night of passion that will lead to a number of events that change their lives forever. This was a really good story. My heart cried at everything that happened because of assumptions and lack of communications. I really felt for everything Elinor, Will and her entire family had been through. I highly recommend. **I received an ARC of this story in exchange for an honest review View all my reviews

Review: Beauty and the Highland Beast

Image
Beauty and the Highland Beast by Lecia Cornwall My rating: 5 of 5 stars Dair Sinclair was the chief’s son and clan favorite. When something horrible happens to him, he almost dies and starts to go crazy. His father desperately pulls in a number of mid-wives to try to help his son. When the latest one tells him that a virgin must be brought to the keep, he hurries to a neighboring clan where there are a number of females. Let me start by saying I think my favorite character is probably Fia’s father Donal! The few times we see in his head are absolutely hilarious. He really loves his daughters in a time when that wasn’t necessarily the case. Aside from Fia’s father, I really loved both Fia and Dair. My heart bled for both of them. They went through so much before even finding each other. The story itself was really good. I didn’t predict a number of the twists the author put in there. I highly recommend. **I received an ARC of this story in exchange fo

Review: Cowboy Player

Image
Cowboy Player by Mia Hopkins My rating: 4 of 5 stars Clark and Melody have been friends for ever. Since moving back to town, she’s been helping out with his family business while putting her sister through nursing school. Clark has always been a player, but he’s finally ready to tell the only woman he's ever loved that he wants to be with her. The problem is she is really skittish after a bad relationship. Surprisingly I really liked this book. I was kind of iffy on it but I really enjoyed it. The characters were really well written. I'd love to read more from this author. **I received an ARC of this story in exchange for an honest review View all my reviews

Review: To Love a Wolf

Image
To Love a Wolf by Paige Tyler My rating: 4 of 5 stars SWAT officer Landry Cooper happens to be in a bank when he senses something’s about to go down, just as he starts to talk to a beautiful woman. Everly Danu doesn’t normally go for the alpha male, bu the cop that starts talking to her is hard to resist. When he saves her life during a bank robbery, she promises him the best date of his life. Unfortunately she doesn’t know that he’s hiding a big secret, he’s a werewolf. Like the other books the author has written, the story and characters were well written. There was also an introduction to a possible danger against the werewolves. I really enjoyed the story. I recommend. **I received an ARC of this story in exchange for an honest View all my reviews

Review: Lana and the Laird

Image
Lana and the Laird by Sabrina York My rating: 4 of 5 stars Lachlan Sinclair and and his entire family for generations is cursed. Each male dies by their 30th birthday. He’s been slowly going crazy as his father’s ghost has been haunting him, pushing him to find a mythical treasure before his death. The one thing he didn’t plan on in his final quest is Lana Dounreay. This was a really good book. I really liked Lana in particular. I felt really bad for the way she was treated in the beginning, but she really shone when she came upon Lachlan’s dilemma. I liked Lachlan but he was a bit trusting of the wrong people. I’m not really sure why it actually took me some time to read the book. It was just one I had to take some breaks from. I highly recommend it though. **I received a ARC of this story in exchange for an honest review View all my reviews

Review: Inseverable

Image
Inseverable by Cecy Robson My rating: 4 of 5 stars This is the last free Summer for Trinity and her close friends before they start the real world come September. On a ritual trip to the local bar, Trinity notices the new bartender and can’t keep her eyes off of him. After an evening of trying to make him smile, or at least acknoweldge her, she’s pretty sure he’s pretty close to hating her. However, it just makes her more determined. I am a big fan of this author, so I was pretty excited to read a book from the new series. Overall it was a great book. The author tends to write books with so much heartbreak and drama that you want to pull your hair out and beg for the HEA to get there. While Callahan was in a bad place personally and had went through so much, this wasn’t as heart-wrenching as a number of her other books. My only issue with this was how cheerful (determinedly cheerful at that) Trinity is. I totally understand why she is, I’m just not a

Review: Her Wolf

Image
Her Wolf by Rebecca Royce My rating: 4 of 5 stars Ashlee Morrison thinks she’s going crazy...again. She’s become a bit obsessed with a wolf who may or may not be talking to her. Tristan Kane is a shifter that has been stuck in his wolf form and trapped at a zoo. When he finally gets a real scent of a worker that he’s been keeping an eye on makes him realize that she’s actually his mate. Like with all of this author’s books, this was a really good story and I really loved all of the characters. I really felt for Ashlee as she basically had her world flipped upside down right from the beginning. The only thing that bothered me was that it felt rushed in some places where I would’ve liked it to not have been. Beyond that, I highly recommend this story and can’t wait to read more from this series. **I received an ARC of this story in exchange for an honest review View all my reviews
