Review of A Highland Knight to Remember by Amy Jarecki

**I received an ARC of this story in exchange for an honest review**
Gyllis Campbell has loved Sir Sean MacDougall for as long as she can remember. As she is heading to the Beltane festival, she's determined once and for all that he will be hers. When Sean sees Gyllis at the Beltane festival, he is at once entranced. He would like nothing more than to openly pursue her. Even though her brother is his best friend, he'll never agree. Regardless, he can't stay away from her. When he is unexpectedly called away from the festival due to his father's death, Gyllis assumes he was playing with her her and is heartbroken. As she is leaving, she's struck by a horrible illness and is sent to a priory where one of her brothers is a monk. When Sean is sent to the same Priory for a meeting, he is shocked to see Gyllis there and to find out what happened to her. Once he finally convinces her of his honest intent, they slowly form a strong relationship as she fights for her life and he fights treasonous enemies.
While in his youth, Sean was as wild as the next highlander, it's obvious from the beginning that he is 100% crazy about Gyllis. He is one of the strongest around, but when he's with her, he's totally tamed and at ease. During this book, he goes from a dedicated soldier to a chieftain in love. In the beginning of the book, Gyllis is a young woman determined to have the man she wants. Her illness sidetracks her and she uses her determination to overcome it and help the one she loves. During the story, the two main characters are given the opportunity, albeit bad circumstances, to really grow their love and get to know each other in a way they didn't know before. That doesn't happen in a lot of historical books. I really liked that part.
I really liked this book. I thought the plot was rather unique. When I started it, I was a little cautious on that point, but in the end, I thought it helped build character strength. I highly recommend for anyone that likes this genre.
