Review of Reft by Libby Austin

Brandon was in a rock band but avoiding his band mates. He craved and had solitude the last couple of months. Layna became his neighbor across the hall. She hurt her foot and Brandon went to help. Brandon didn't get to know people very often. Yet with Layla, he nagged at her to get an x-ray and gave her a piggy-back ride to the car. Brandon's band mates had gotten better halves, which took the freedom away to tour and have day-long jam sessions. Brandon kept women off limits. Barrett was Brandon's twin, his other half to whole. Brandon had a nightmare for the past 13 years. Brandon called Barrett after he woke from the nightmares. Barrett always had a way of making things better. Brandon and his brother hadn't talked in a long time. They started talking again when Brandon realized his surrogate family had been the band and they started having their own lives. He also felt he needed his own blood and best friend from the beginning. He starting reaching out and one day Barrett responded. Brandon and Layna started playing Band Jam together. She promised not to tell anyone what they talk about and what she sees when she's with him.

Brandon had been really messed up from an incident during his youth, but as the story goes on, you root for him as you watch him grow. Layna acted like she was hard, but in reality she was a caring and kind person. This was a great story. I enjoyed it and would recommend it to anyone that likes a book with lots of twists and turns.
