Review of An Amish Man of Ice Mountain by Kelly Long

Joseph King was 23. He worked from dawn to dusk. His job was exhausting mentally, physically, and spiritually. He worked four weeks on and two weeks off. He was driven to keep his 21yr old brother Edward safe and away from the world's influence. They were working on a gas drilling rig in West Virginia. They'd been there about two months. The brothers were complete opposites. Mary "Mama" Malizza ran the Bear Claw Inn with a soft heart and an iron hand. She knew how to handle rough men and understood them. Priscilla was hired as a waitress on a one week trial. She had a 4yr old daughter named Holly and they lived in Priscilla's station wagon. Joseph saw Priscilla go to the car and found out they were living in it. He tried to do little things to help out. Joseph took Priscilla and Holly to Ice Mountain for sanctuary. Her mother had been Amish but left to marry her dad.
Priscilla was a very strong woman and did whatever it took to keep her child and herself safe. She had a good heart and was a good person. Once she grew enough to trust again and to learn to love. She was a great mom and everything she did was for Holly until she met an Amish man. Through the twists and turns of the story, Priscilla finds true contentment and love. Joseph felt he didn't deserve a family because of the bad things he'd done as a teenage boy. He loved his family and community. He was kind, compassionate and a good man. He, too, had a lot of growing and forgiving of himself to do.
It was a good story. I recommend it to anyone that likes this genre.
