Review of Sins of a Duke by Stacy Reid

Sins of a Duke (Scandalous House of Calydon, #3)

Lady Constance has become blacklisted in society for a sin that she can't do anything about. The Duke of Mondvale has such a scandalous reputation that hers looks like a minor indiscretion. When she sees him at a party one night, she can't help but be drawn to him. At a chance meeting later that night, she finally feels freedom from condemnation. The Duke is finding her a refreshing delight to his typically jaded and revenge-filled life. When he finds out that she's last chess piece he needs for the ultimate revenge, it was killing two birds with one stone.
While the overall plot is fairly typical, especially in historical romances, the book itself wasn't. Once I started reading it, I didn't stop until I was done. The Duke's entire life and drive was driven by a justifiable revenge that made you want to hold him. Letting in Constance, even if by ulterior motives, allowed him to feel something more that hate and pain and had you cheering for him. Throughout the book, Lady Constance also does a bit of growing and changing. The pain she experiences as an outcast allows her to appreciate people that are true and those much less fortunate. I look forward to reading more from this author.
