Review of Unconditional: Always 1 by Cherie Hudson

Maci Rowling is 20 and has Parkinson's Disease. She on to Australia on a college scholarship for environmental studies. Maci is from Plenty, Ohio. Maci traveled 19 hours to get to Australia. Upon her arrival, her luggage was lost, then she dropped her passport and knocked down an 80yr old man after he was picked it up for her. Maci saw herself as impulsive, sensitive, self-conscious, uncertain, and broken. While in the airport, Maci bumped into a gorgeous guy. On an impulse she kisses him. His name is Mr. Jones, but she nickname's Mr. Broad Shoulders. Photographers chase after him and refer to him as Raphael. Unbeknownst to Maci, Raphael's older sister married a crown prince, so he is considered a celebrity. Maci is staying at a dorm called MacAller House. Foreign Student Liaison Heather helps her get settled. Heather introduced Maci to Brandon Osmond, the Unit Fitness Manager. When she found out he had ALS, she felt safe with Brandon and admits she has Parkinson's. He helps her set up a fitness regiment to help control the Parkinson's. It turns out that Raphael has the room across from Maci.
Maci is a very intelligent girl, but doesn't feel she really has a future because of her disease. She tends to not let people in because of it. Brandon is attracted to Maci but is also very protective of her and tries to make her understand that she's not broken. Raphael appears to be the exact opposite of Brandon and runs hot and cold as far as Maci is concerned. I thoroughly enjoyed the book, Maci, and her journey to accepting and overcoming her outlook on her disease and the road she travels between Raphael and Brandon.
