Review of Magic Found by Misha McKenzie

Marissa is 30 years old and works for Slate Investigation. Jack Slate is 35 years old and is her boss. She has fantasized about him since she went to work for him. Marissa left the orphanage at 18, but has worked for Jack for the last 3 years. Marissa had a dream about a hooded man that was very threatening. Marissa had a vision when she held her baby blanket that the nuns had saved for her at the orphanage. Marissa told Jack about everything that was happening. Marissa almost got mugged while walking home one night. She thought it was Jack that had saved her when it was actually one of her new abilities. Marissa had a vision that Jack would get hit and killed. After her warning, Jack was very cautious and it saved him, proving her visions are true. She gets attacked again and the thug tells her she's a witch. Marissa and Jack then go back to the church to talk to the priest and Sister Frances and find out about her family. Sister Frances gives her information to start looking.
I found Jack to be very protective, especially as he discovers his feelings for Marissa as the book goes on. He always listens to everything she has to say and tries to help in any way he can. Marissa doesn't really know what to think about these powers as the come and is initially scared of them. She finds it hard to believe that Jack has feelings towards her. She fears for him the more he helps her as they try to figure out what's happening. I sympathize with Marissa as all these changes and powers come into her life. I was happy she had Jack by her side to help with it all and to protect her. I enjoyed the book and recommend it.
