Review of How To Get Lucky by Erin McCarthy - 5 Stars

**I received an ARC of this story in exchange for an honest review**
Allison Parker was hanging at the local bar with her friends, lamenting her lack of a successful life when her psychic friend makes a prediction that may or may not change her life. While at the bar, she made some rude comments about a rock star who was at the bar and being mobbed by fans. When he heard her, to save face, she kept up with the snarky remarks. Rather than be totally offended at the brunette’s comments, Marco Lucky became intrigued. He was a little pleased that he finally found a woman that didn’t just fall at his feet for who and what he was. After leaving the bar, Allison takes her psychic friend’s advice and buys a lottery ticket. The next night, she actually wins the lottery. While she’s celebrating at the bar, Marco happened to wander in again, in hopes of seeing her again. What starts out as a night of happiness, becomes a night of inner reflection and just absolute connection with Marco.
When I read the overview of the book, I wasn’t sure how much I was going to like this story. With any plot that involves two people, instant attraction and seemingly instant love, I find it’s really up to the storyteller as to whether or not I can buy into it. As soon as I started to read the story, I was completely caught up in the story. While Allison is rethinking her entire being, she’s hyper aware of Marco and struggles hard to maintain her morals and NOT act like every groupie he’s ever met. This allows each of them to see a side of each other that they’ve never shared with anyone else. For him, this is something completely unique, especially while he fights his own inner battles.
This is my first time reading this author, but I absolutely LOVED it and can’t wait to read more from her. I highly recommend it to anyone that likes contemporary, hawt rock star stories.
