Review of Forward Pass by Desiree Holt - 4 Stars

**I received an ARC of this story in exchange for an honest review**
Shay has been in love with Joe, her brother’s BFF for as long as she could remember. Too bad he’s a player always looking for the next party. When he was a pro in the NFL, Shay was forced to see just how much Joe got around. Coming back home to Texas, she finds that her brother, off in Wyoming working, has invited Joe to stay at their home while he’s in town to visit. This puts Shay’s feelings, as well as her insecurities, to the forefront. Joe has finally noticed that his friend’s little sister isn’t so little anymore. The problem is, he’s not sure how to convince Shay he’s not the same guy he used to be either.

The author did a great job of building  the characters and giving them a complete and believable history. Shay has finally come to terms that she needs to get over Joe just as she finds him in her home. This causes her to lash out at him in a way that at first seems spiteful and childish, but as you get further into the book, you get to understand her a lot more and why she trying to protect her heart from him. Joe’s character starts right off by basically getting hit in the face with a sledgehammer by his feelings for Shay. His determination to win her makes him do some inner-reflection on how he was and how he’s been around her.

This was a really good book. It was also VERY HAWT. Recommended for those that like steamy contemporaries with a football twist. I can’t wait to read more from this author.
