Review: Mace

Image
Mace by Lane Hart My rating: 5 of 5 stars Mason Reed is on the cusp of being the next big MMA fighter. Thanks to his sister’s soon-to-be husband, Linc, giving him a chance and training him in the gym, he now has a top fight lined up that will throw him in sight with the right people for a top contract. So when Linc asks him to pick up his sister and let her ride with him to the beach for the wedding, Mace agrees, but now without a feral warning from Linc to keep his hands to himself. Not a problem until he sees her. Hailey Abrams is perfection in his eyes. In that moment, he knows he’ll do anything to make her smile. Wow. Can I start by saying that?? I haven’t read too many MMA fighter books, so it’s not a genre I’m sick of either, which allowed me to give an open opinion. While it started out in the type of situation I don’t like in books, I was completely pulled into the story. I thought the author handled his entire situation very well. Hailey’s c...

Review: Stripped Down

Image
Stripped Down by Anne Marsh My rating: 5 of 5 stars Angel Mendoza has run the Blackhawk Ranch his entire adult life. It has been in his family for generations. After his father almost ran it to ruin, he has strived to make it a success. So when his wells are running dry, he’ll do anything to get water back into them. Rose Jordan is the step-sister he almost had. She and her mother had lived on the ranch when she was 16 and he was 23. It was all he could do to resist her. Now she back and she’s an adult so he’s vowed to make her his. Wow! I am not too crazy about contemporaries, but I really loved this one. My heart really cried for Rose for everything that she has been through and what she wants. I felt that Angel was able to give her what she craved and in return she was able to help heal him a bit too. I highly recommend. View all my reviews

Review: The SEAL's Rebel Librarian

Image
The SEAL's Rebel Librarian by Anne Calhoun My rating: 4 of 5 stars Jack Powell retired from the Navy SEALs several months ago. He has a form of PTSD and isn’t sure how to fix it. After enrolling into some college courses, he meets Erin Kent, one of the librarians. When she blows him off on his invite for drinks, something about her makes it hard for him to forget her. When he finds her trying to explore her wild side after a crappy marriage and divorce, he’s more than happy to help her. This was a short and hot story. It kept me reading from start to finish. I really liked the way both characters were able to help each other on their personal healing and growth. I also liked seeing the characters from the previous novella in the series. I highly recommend. **I received an ARC of this story in exchange for an honest review View all my reviews

Review: More Wicked Alphas, Wild Nights

Image
More Wicked Alphas, Wild Nights by Anna Lowe My rating: 5 of 5 stars Initially I was going to try to do a mini-review on each section, but since they are snippets/epilogues to other stories, that’s really hard to do. So instead I can tell you that this anthology of scenes is definitely worth the purchase. I have read 2 of the authors’ other works, so I knew them, but the other snippets were so well written, I found myself looking them up and adding more stories to my huge TBR pile. I highly recommend. **I received an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review View all my reviews

Review: The SEAL's Secret Lover

Image
The SEAL's Secret Lover by Anne Calhoun My rating: 5 of 5 stars Rose Powell is currently taking her Grannie and her Grannie’s best friends to Turkey to check off some items on their bucket lists. When her brother Jack backs out, she’s peeved to say the least. In his stead, he gets his fellow retired SEAL, Keenan, to fill in for him. As soon as Rose sees Keenan, the attraction causes some of her self-control to slip. Keenan knows that Jack would kill him if he knew what Keenan wanted to do with Rose, but he just can’t resist. Overall I really liked this story and now want to visit Turkey!! This story was quick and kept your interest from start to finish. I loved that Jack was able to find his way home. The only problem I had was that there were a few parts in scenes that just didn’t make a whole lot of sense, but it didn’t really deter from the overall story. I highly recommend and can’t wait to read more from this author. **I received an ARC of t...

Review: The Art of Taming a Rake

Image
The Art of Taming a Rake by Nicole Jordan My rating: 4 of 5 stars Two years ago, Venitia Stratham was shunned from society for breaking it off with her fiance on their wedding day when he showed up escorted by his best friend, Quinn Wilde, fresh from his mistress’s bed. Venitia refused to accept a man that wouldn’t be faithful, regardless of money and a title, so she was shunned not only by society but her family as well. Now, two years later, she has returned to England from France, determined to save her sister from wedding a rake like Quinn Wilde. This was a really good story. It’s part of the author’s Legendary Lovers series, which all in all, is quite a cute theme. So, as with the other stories, it’s definitely a story that has been told before but with the author’s unique twists. My favorite piece from this book was Venitia and her strong personality in a timeline where women didn’t have rights. She was determined to lead her own life regardles...

Review: Mercury Striking

Image
Mercury Striking by Rebecca Zanetti My rating: 5 of 5 stars Lynne Harmony is going through dangerous landscape, trying to find Jax Mercury, who has risen to mythical hero status since the world started coming to an end 6 months ago. Unfortunately, she doesn’t know if he’l be like everyone else and either try to kill her or turn her into those that are hunting her, considering most everyone blames her for the end. This is one of the first post-apocalypse books I’ve read and the first book I’ve read from this author. I must say, I was completely enraptured. The book snared me from the beginning and didn’t let go. I had a hard time putting it down, even reading it when I shouldn’t. It’s also usually a hard sell for the quick-love that happens in most books, but I couldn’t help but be very happy that Jax was able to embrace his humanity and feel for Lynne. I can’t wait to read more from this series and more from this author. **I received an ARC of this s...
